The fine folk at The Fat Club have just added a quality new EP from Maribou State to their impressive catalogue and with some remix love from XLR8R and an exclusive bootleg, it would be rude not to share the love.

We’ve also got a nice exclusive remix courtesy of upcoming producer NKC who aims for the party vibe with this retake.

Barcelona resident Ludowick has been getting some headphone time recently with his unique brand of deep house a sure fire way to hit your groove. As well as releasing on his own Barcelona Records label, he has now hooked up with 22 Digit records from Newcastle.

As you’d expect from Ludowick, the production is crisp and tight. We have a EE sampler below with my favourites being “From Detroit to Berlin” and “Synthetic Strings”.

Glasgow-based producer Linden has come a long way since making his debut on my wee Nerve imprint.

Releases for labels such as Horizons and Renegade Hardware have strengthened his reputation as one of the most impressive new producers of the past five years and there’s plenty where that came from.

The Red Bull Music Academy brings together the world’s finest new musical talent and gets them together tith industry types to learn more about the business.

Its influence reaches far and wide and this track gives a taster of the talent that goes through its doors every year. Krystal Klear, Broke One and Ghosts On Tape got together at the Academy this year and this brilliant nod to euphoric ’90s house was the outcome.

US label Dubporn have been impressing of late and the recent Imaginary Friend and Innana releases showed a label with an ear for new talent.

The latest to join their roster are Fau & Deam, a new name but one that’s sure to be making it’s mark in 2012. Across the EP’s six tracks, elements of dark house, garage, electronica and even dub float around, all easing their way into the mix.

US producer Mux Mool’s album “Skulltaste” was one of our favourite albums of 2010 and the arrival of new album “Planet High School” was greeted with suitable excitement here at the Labs.

It doesn’t disappoint and once again shows off the producers skills for adding various genres and tempos to his palette while continuing to wrap them up in his unique packaging of groove filled earworm hooks and catchy melodies that sound instantly recognisable and forever memorable.

While most labels seem happy to rest on their laurels and stick to the standard current formats of digital and vinyl, Glasgow imprint Broken20 are forever looking to expand their horizons.

The latest project to come from the mind of TVO and co is the launch of Broken60, a cassette based offshoot label and the first outing comes from 10-20 in the shape of his “Magnet Marsh” album.

Across the album’s 21 tracks, the listener is welcomed into a world of easy on the ears left of centre electronica. Sprinkling drums and percussion throughout where required, the tracks lose themselves in a sea of wonderful atmospheres where every slightly disjointed moment is balanced equally with moments of serene calm and subtlety.

Saturday is funk, soul and disco day here at the Labs and while we’ve mostly been dipping into the past, today we’ve got something new for your lugholes.

It’s a chunky funker from a Glasgow producer who has adopted the Ron Trinidad moniker.

Sampling a well known bassline, chopping it and placing it around a firm kick drum backing and lush keys, it’s a case of it’s not big and it’s not clever but it’s guaranteed to soundtrack some good times (see what I did there…).

The album “Black Sands” by Bonobo was one of our highlights of 2010. A beautifully constructed work fusing sharp electronica, smooth vocals and a fair share of orchestral arrangement. It’s certainly an album that can sooth the mind when the needs takes hold.

Fast forward to 2012 and Ninja Tune are starting to roll out some fresh remixes from the upcoming “Black Sands Remixed” release which just happens to include some Labs favourites.

First up is Machinedrum, who must be the hardest working man in music. Nearly every week another bit of Travis Stewart work comes through the pipes without a drop in quality. His remix of “Eyes Down” is no different and you can grab a free download by signing up at the Bonobo website.

The second in the series comes from the master of the new acid sound Funkineven. This time the man shows us his versatility with a boogie infused downtempo rocker still jam packed with quality.

There are also excellent reworks from Cosmin TRG, Arp 101, Floating Points and much more on the way. Grab the EP on the 30th January and the album in mid February from the Ninja Tune store.

The man with the Ghostly touch is back. After some time touring his “Black City” album, Matthew Dear got right back into the studio to start work on the next long player.

The first fruits of this are the “Headcage” EP. With a pop underbelly as the base, there’s still room for indie, shoegaze and folk while still retaining that warped electronic sound.
