Alex B – Moments LP – free download
Hype has been building for Alex B’s debut LP for a while now and his “Brain Food” mix for Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder imprint gave an early taster of what to expect by mostly comprising of his own unreleased material. The “Moments” album finally lands on Alex’s own Elm & Oak label on April 6th and it’s been well worth the wait.
The album’s a brilliant journey into the mind of Alex B – wandering through epic instrumental hip hop with the occasional burst of vocals with everything draped in a kind of dark melancholy atmosphere. The standout track for me is “Waste” with it’s doomy synth and sub bass work roaming over a nicely crunched break while a light whistling hook wanders over the track.
