Brooklyn hip hop producer Chi’ Akai has inevitably welcomed comparisons to the likes of Ras G and Flying Lotus but his debut release – “The Epoch EP” definitely sees him wandering off on his own path. Hip hop with psychedelic leanings is the order of the day, from the more laid back leanings of “Neel” to the more aggressive distorted bassline of “Bipolar” it’s a brilliant collage of styles throughout.
