    Gatekeeeper - Blip

I always think it’s a real shame when tracks like this are categorised under dubstep in record shops etc – as lumping them into the genre inevitably places them alongside nonsense like Rusko and Caspa. In reality Gatekeeper’s “Blip” falls somewhere between dub techno, electronica and light IDM, with it’s gently muffled drums and smooth synth work driving proceedings along underpinned by a bowel troubling sub bass line.

On the flip – Gatekeeper takes on Appleblim’s “Vansan” (originally released on Skull Disco) and turns into another lovely chunk of dubby electronica with epic spaced out stabs floating over chunky sub and breaks.

This is only the second release on If Symptoms Persist and strongly highlights the label as one to watch for the future.
