Hidden Orchestra - Tru Thoughts - Mix

I have long admired friends Hidden Orchestra, the Edinburgh based four piece for their ability to fuse jazz, funk, hip hop, Dnb and various other pigeon holes to make beautifully crafted music.

Their craft in using live instruments, organic samples and a long list of guest musicians help them create an emotive soundscape and amazing live experience. Comparisons have been drawn with the like of DJ Shadow and Cinematic Orchestra.

So today we have something new and something old to help you unwind the gears and cogs. Firstly the “Flight” EP is their second release and picks up where they left of from their stunning “Night Walks” album. Strings, a harp, DnB drum patterns, dark ambient noise and haunting vocals its all in there so get your ears round a couple of the tracks below.

You can get this right now at the Etch Shop.

Having listen to this it reminded me of the amazing mix they did as promotion for their free EP “Footsteps”. Its amazing blend of their own work as well as stand out tracks from the like of Tomas Dvorak, Xploding Plastix and Moondog.

Don’t forget you can download the “Footsteps” EP from the bands Bandcamp page.
