I’ve been a fan of Kabuki’s since way back in the Makai days (I was lucky enough to even have him grace my Nerve imprint) and his debut album “Signal To Noise” was a constant on the headphones for a good coupla years.

Monday 5th July sees his second album “Warrior Soul” finally land – this time on the legendary V Recordings and he’s taken things up a notch. Vocals wander throught the album with Jeru The Damaja’s appearance being the most effective and there’s a real liquid funk vibe throughout – a style that’s been missing from the scene in recent years with the tidal wave of minimal drum n bass. Subtle jazz keys and lush strings are peppered throughout but with each track having more than enough bass punch to keep one eye firmly planted on the dancefloor.

I’ve picked out the aforementioned Jeru The Damaja track and the brilliant roller “Memory Effect” for your listening pleasure, make sure you wander along to your digital outlet of choice on Monday to pick this up.
