Mark Henning – Cupcakes

Soma continue their march into 2011 with this 3-tracker from Mark Henning scheduled to land at the start of February.

“Cupcakes” opens the offering with moody pads and eerie atmospherics and before long the infectious bassline wanders along subtly layering itself over a moody techno backing. Slowly building up with layer upon layer of light percussion and synth work, it’s an quality early evening bubbler and adds to Soma’s already impressive account in 2011 following Harvey McKay’s “Mind Frame”.

Tim Xavier and Camea pop in for a remix but it doesn’t offer up too much to take the attention from the original before another track from Henning closes the pack in the shape of “Last Night”. It’s another quality bubbler with a huge reese style bassline wandering into sight every so often.
