Born in Dublin, via Glasgow, and now living in New York, Mike Slott has just released an EP entitled “Lucky 9Teen“. Being that he’s one half of “Heralds of Change” (with Hudson Mohawke) and friends with Rustie it’s hardly suprising that his music is sort of in the same style- which some people are now calling “blip-hop”.

However, Mike Slott’s music is more relaxing on the ear. The trademark wonky beats of this genre (which sounds like the quantize function hasn’t worked properly and tends to get on my nerves after a while) are less “in yer face” than Mohawkes- but the bleepy synths are still there, along with atmospheric soundscapes.
All in all making for an interesting EP you should at least check out.

Have a listen to the tracks to below and see what you think- you can buy it here (or here from the 14th of December).

…And now for your viewing pleasure….

Over 19 days in the making of Lucky 9Teen, Mike Slott took a powershovel camera and his iphone around New York, Dublin & Vienna to record nothing more than his natural observations…..
