For a 21 year old, Nicolas Jaar has already achieved a massive amount in electronic music. With releases on quality NYC label Wolf + Lamb as well as a string of remixes, we thought his style was set in house, disco and techy beats. Then last year he signs an album deal with Circus Company and out comes “Space Is Only Noise”.

When listening for the first time we were a little unsure as it wasn’t what we had come to expect. The reason for the hesitation was a sound more akin to electronica woven with influences from jazz, blues and soul. The more it was played, the more we came to think this really is a special album. There are edgy synths, dreamy vocals, a myriad of samples and plenty of space to let the music breath. Not only that but the expert construct of the songs and tight production make it an extremely well polished item.

Highlights include “Variations”, “Too Many Kids Finding Rain the Dust” and “”Space Is Only Noise If You Can See” which you can check below.

If you don’t have this check the whole thing out on Soundcloud, but just raid the piggy bank and buy it form all the usual outlets.
