Zinc - Crack House Vol 2 - artwork

When Zinc first moved away from drum n bass, his new work was met with a bit of scepticism. This was soon washed aside when the first new fruits of his labour started to appear. He’s not only grabbed the house bull by the horns but he’s also pretty much shaped his own little mini genre in crack house. It’s straight up dirty house sprinkled with big sub bass and big main room friendly breakbeats. The 2nd edition of his “Crack House” EP series landed this week and it’s some of his best work yet.

I’ve picked out my two faves below – first is up “Old Flame”, packed to the brim with rave atmosphere with air horns, ragga sample and 91 style rave friendly high pitched synth line a go go, this is an absolute monster! Sounding like something from The Prodigy Experience dragged into 2010 kicking and screaming – brilliant stuff. Next up is “Nexx” and we’re on steadier ground here with a catchy synth hook leading a tech house styled slice of chunky wonky house, top quality moody bizness.

Available on CD and 12″ at Boomkat and digital download at djdownload.
