A Decade of Flying Lotus – Mixed by Gaslamp Killer
I first stumbled across Gaslamp Killer at a Luckyme event at the Ivy. I’m not usually one for such trendy events – but my mate George wanted to go so I headed along for the banter. Once there, I was totally taken by GLK’s enthusiasm and personality behind the turntables, oh aye and he played some good tunes.
Anyway, unbelieveably – the one and only Flying Lotus has been producing for over a decade now despite first appearing on most people’s radar with his “Los Angeles” album on Warp in 2008. His brilliantly glitchy yet wonderfully melodic hip hop has been worming it’s way into the minds of music fans worldwide and March 2010 will see the release of his new album “Cosmogramma”.
For the moment – he’s been digging in his own archives, pulled together some unreleased gems and asked mate Gaslamp Killer to mix it together for your listening pleasure.
In his own words:
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone – as we’re approaching this new year, I felt it was time to let go of some things that have been gathering dust. Some old things, and some new things, I tried to pick out tracks that I know yall haven’t heard yet so there should be surprises around every turn.
