Kode 9

Kode 9 will be returning to his Glasgow roots at the Electric Frog and with new album “Black Sun” just having landed on his own Hyperdub imprint, he’ll be keen to deliver for his home crowd. If his DJ Kicks mix from last year is anything to go by, you can expect tracks from the likes of Ramadanman, Lone, Zomby and more as he jumps between genres with ease, dodging pigeonholes and with any luck, plays some new Burial.

Kode 9 & The Spaceape – Otherman by Fabio Ramoz

He launched Hyperdub in 2004 and it’s become one of the most important labels for UK music with releases from Joker, Martyn, Ikonika, Darkstar and of course, Burial filling up the back catalogue.

To give you a taster of what to expect, check. his BBC Essential mix from March 2011. In the past year he’s also put together massively different mixes for FACT and Glasgow’s LuckyMe, with the former heading down an old skool jungle route while the latter sees tracks from Prince, Sun Ra and Herbie Hancock thrown into the mix.

He’ll be taking to the decks on Sunday at the Electric Frog and whatever he pulls out of the bag will be top quality. See ya down the front.
