    Kelpe

One of our favourite label over the last 2 years has been Serbian label Svetlana Industries. They have had a canny knack of picking up lesser know producers and allowing them to show their quality bring many new names to our DJ sets.

This time they have another favourite Kelpe on the roster to deliver the high quality beats.

As well as the phat beat and boogie sounds that are surefire head nodders they’ve also got BNJMN involved for an exclusive vinyl only remix. Get a flavour of the EP below as well as a free download of “Frosty Kiss” courtesy of Mixmag.

    Lemon D AKA K-AZE

With a recording history that takes him back to the early days of jungle and drum n bass, Lemon D has a discography to be proud of that takes in legendary imprints such as R&S and Metalheadz. In recent years however he’s been missing from release schedules and DJ’s playlists.

He’s certainly not been slacking though and has unveiled a change of name to K-AZE and a 30 minute sampler mix packed with new beats ranging across genres from 8-bit bleepyness to old skool house, grime, rnb and dubstep.

Have a gander below and release info should be with us shortly.

He’s also turned in this rather tasty rework of the recent CRST single on Valve.

If you have ever been to Iceland you will know that for such a small place it has an amazing party scene. We recently heard some tracks from duo Rey & Kjavik and were immediately impressed with their brand of deep, spacey house that had the toes tapping almost immediately.

Early next month they release the “All Alone” EP on the ever amazing Compost Black label and we highly recommend that you get on this.

King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine - Jubilee Edition - artwork

If there’s one criticism that can be aimed at King Creosote & Jon Hopkins’ phenomenal “Diamond Mine” album it’s that it was somewhat lacking in duration.

For those hungry for more of the same chilled electronica with folky interludes, your prayers have now been answered in this slightly extended edition of the album. Included in the extras are all the tracks from the “Honest Words EP”, a previously released b-side and two brand new tracks.

Fire up one of the new tracks below and pop on over to Boomkat to snap it up.

Jai Paul - Jasmine - artwork

Saturday’s here at the Labs sees us dive into the worlds of soul, funk and disco and while this usually means a look at a classic, occasionally something new will take our fancy. This week we take a look at the latest from XL Recordings new golden boy Jai Paul.

He first appeared with the phenomenal “BTSTU” nearly a year ago and it seems he’s in no rush to unveil a raft of new material. A new track did arrive recently however in the shape of “Jasmine” and once again set the tongues a-wagging.

It’s a lovely slab of modern electronic soul and has been burning up the blog world recently and will hopefully lead to more new material and even possibly news of an album.

    DJ SS – United

    Dj SS

Today’s classic sees us take a wee wander back to 1994 for one of the finest moments in the back catalogue of the one and only DJ SS. While in recent years his material hasn’t exactly ticked our boxes, his mid 90s output constantly found its way onto my turntables.

This lovely slab of atmospheric dnb was always a favourite and it packs a nice mix friendly intro and a hefty amount of sub bass to pack a dancefloor punch.

    Beaumont

Its been a couple of weeks since we mentioned Hotflush on here. Well have no fear as they are back with another smasher of an EP. This time Beaumont (Michael Rintoul) takes the reigns of his synth stallion and rides off into the 80′s sunset.

The more I have listened to this EP the more I love it. Beautiful, subtle and engaging its the sound of the 80′s with a 21st century twist. We want to hear more and we will pursue this end as much as we can. In the mean time grab this from the 23rd April onwards.

    Battles-Dross-Glop

Battles are a band that have never been short of balls when it comes to pushing the experimental envelope. Melding rock beats with electronics, live drums and more they are a sight to behold in full flight.

They have been getting some of their favourite producers to get busy with their latest productions in the studio and we have to say had some stunning results.

Out now the remix album includes works from the likes of Kode 9, Shabazz Palaces and Hudson Mohawke. You can check the whole album out and get buying here.

They have also release a rather tasty FACT Magazine mix which is well worth a hour or so of your time.
