With a new EP landing on December 12th through Rwina, Glasgow-based producer Taz Buckfaster’s set to bring a successful 2011 year to an end and nicely whets everyone’s appetite for more new material in 2012.

As a wee bonus, he’s sneaked out this quality freebie (courtesy of XLR8R) and it’s a bit of a belter. A big chunky 8-bit style synth hook wanders over thumping drums and a sea of sub bass deep enough to drown any winter woes.

Well after a few days downtime we’re thankfully back (many thanks to Altered Mode for technical assistance!) and we’ve got a cracker to get us back up and running.

Peace first appeared on our radar with the rather great “Hungry” EP recently and he’s now teamed up with Arm Wtchs Fngrs for this EP packed with twisted r’n'b and 8 bit electronica goodness.

From the short and snappy funk burst of “Sucker Punch” to the tin drum driven crunch of “U Y” we’re treated to some top quality hooks and melodies with enough bass driven punch to keep any dancefloor happy.

As we welcome Professor Basepair back from the high seas, we thought a lovely bit of slow roasted pork would go down well after his six months of buffet style food.

The appetiser this week comes from Brackles. With his first mix album just round the corner on the new !K7/Cool in the Pool series we see the Blunted Robots comrade stretch out is house muscles over the usual funky styles to produce this exclusive track “Blo”.

The main dish comes from Ame with their new EP “Rrose Sélavy / Junggesellenmaschine”. Atmospheric deep, brooding house is available is swathes here and marks a massive return to form for the German duo. Out now on Innervisions you can pick this up from the usual outlets.

To finish off we have a a cracking remix of a Labs favourite Actress. The tune “Maze” has been on repeat at HQ for some time and has now been given a steroid 8 bit synth injection by new Barcelona based producer Dry Wet Mess. What’s more thanks to XLR8R you can get it for free.

Leicester based producer Aeroplane Dope first made his mark with the brilliant “Scraping The Grinder” LP for EightFX. The album was a mish mash of top quality dubstep and reggae influenced sounds and showcased a young producer with a talent way beyond his years.

Now he’s taken matters into his own hands and decided to launch his own label – Plain Dope. The first release is a 3 tracker set to land on the 14th of August and lead track “Dope on Plastic” is the one for us. It’s top quality dubstep bizness with a sprinkling of 8-bit magic on top and it’s sure to launch the label with a bang.

After much delay, the acclaimed Redinho EP “Bare Blips” is about to storm a sound system near you. The latest release from the ever quality Numbers label is jam packed with basement beats, club bangers and leftfield melodies amongst the eight tracks on offer. Shlohmo blasts back onto the stereo with his new “Camping” EP due out on the 15th June on Friends of Friends. 8-bit west coast beats meet heavy tech synths with a good dose of bass rumble. This 7 tracker also features mixes by LA friend Baths as well as new Ghostly signing Shigeto.

With the first two releases on Sinden’s Grizzly imprint still picking up regular play here at Phuturelabs HQ, we were all ears when the 3rd release land in our inbox. It’s newcomer Wafa delivering the goods on this one with the 8-bit bassline driven “Ewid Disco”, it’s a bit of a banger and it’s got us doing the robot. The pack also includes two fidgety house numbers in the shape of “Pop Up” and “Man Down” and a Drop The Lime remix but they all fall by the wayside when the lead track comes round again.

The mighty XLR8R are also offering up a free download of the brilliant Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs remix of the title track, so check that out below along with the original.

Tipped by FACT magazine as one to watch in 2010, beat maker SRC is about to release his first EP “Gold Coinz” on the mighty Numbers imprint. The Birmingham producer is best known for his 8-Bit onslaughts regularly dished out on RinseFM.

The new EP is packed to the brim with grime energy thats topped up with his trademark arcade sweeps and bleeps to add some electro funk vibes. We’ve given you a sample of our three favs from the EP in title track “Gold Coinz”, apply named “Brakedance” and the throat soother “Lemsip” below. You can check at all the samples at the Numbers website. This is due to hit the streets on the 10th May you can pick this up at all the usual outlets.

Edinburgh producer Unicorn Kid made a bit of a splash last year with his take on the chiptune/8-bit sound and absolutely blew away most other acts on the BBC Introducing stage at T in the Park. The Pet Shop Boys also drafted him in for some remix work and support slots and a US wide tour saw him play to massive crowds.

Now with a session for Radio 1′s Rob Da Bank on May 7th and a whole host of festival gigs coming up, it looks like the future’s bright for the boy in the hat.
