While Soma are currently celebrating their 20th year in business with a series of events and special releases, they’ve by no means stopped moving forward and the latest artist to join the fold is Deepchord.

The artist’s debut album for the label (“Hash-Bar Loops”) will land at the end of June and to give you a taster of what to expect, Soma will release “Hash-Bar Remnants Pt1″ on the 6th of June. Feature two tracks of top quality dubby techno, neither of the tracks feature in the album’s tracklisting but these should whet your appetite nicely.

The second 12″ of remixes from Martyn’s phenomenal “Great Lengths” album (the first installment featured remixes from Zomby and Redshape) sees Ben Klock and Illum Sphere get their hands on Martyn’s work.

Ben Klock’s remix of “Is This Insanity” is a driving dubby techno number that surrounds you and batters you round the head in a nice subtle way. Stripping away the tribal vibe of the original and replacing it with a sense of paranoia and danger, it’s brilliant stuff but could really benefit with an instrumental version (never been a fan of Spaceape).

On the flip, Illum Sphere takes on “Brilliant Orange”. The original was a lovely short n snappy ambient burst and the Manchester producer has thrown in some skippy beats that unsettle as they seem to fall over each other and slip out of sync with the edgey pads and atmospherics floating around on top.

Scuba‘s debut album “A Mutual Antipathy” stuck out for me as one of 2008s best, blending deep electronica with dubby techno vibes and dubstep. So when this new EP appeared on Hotflush I was keen to dive in head first.

No disappointments here then with more of the same – even wandering into 170BPM territory with “Symbiosis”. Available on double 12″ and digital download from November 2nd, get this on your turntables and iPods and enjoy the goodness.
