Leicester based producer Aeroplane Dope first made his mark with the brilliant “Scraping The Grinder” LP for EightFX. The album was a mish mash of top quality dubstep and reggae influenced sounds and showcased a young producer with a talent way beyond his years.

Now he’s taken matters into his own hands and decided to launch his own label – Plain Dope. The first release is a 3 tracker set to land on the 14th of August and lead track “Dope on Plastic” is the one for us. It’s top quality dubstep bizness with a sprinkling of 8-bit magic on top and it’s sure to launch the label with a bang.

With Skream’s second album “Outside The Box” about to land on Monday – he’s kindly given away another two batches of free tunage (you can still pick up Vol 1 here). This one landed a coupla weeks back and slipped under the radar, once again Herve’s Cheap Thrills label steps up to the mark with more top quality dancefloor destruction. Rave stabs, a chunky amen fill and big steppin dubstep bass is what you get for your money here. Big tune!

Information on this new producer is very sparse, all we know is that the tunes are quality. Enjoy the mystique around Wira and get the tunes down as quick as them there internet pipes will carry them.

First up we have “Animals” – a big bassy house/dubstep hybrid – packed with eerie atmosphere, garage-y drums, ragga vocal snippets and huge sub bass. It’s a bit of a belter

Next up is “13 Times” – a 25 minute wander through the mind of Wira – more of the same dubsteppy house shenanigans, taking in elements of classic house and throwing it in the mix alongside dark electronica and a reassuringly excessive amount of sub bass.

With a stomach full of bbq’d food and a head full of World Cup fever, we headed along to the Radio Magnetic studios to record the fifth in our experiment series. The first of the summer shows proved a handful with a whole host of technical disasters. Undeterred, we eventually triumphed, getting the better of the technology and bring you 80 minutes of musical mayhem – ranging from techno and house to dubstep to electronica and IDM.

French label Jarring Effects makes it’s UK release debut with this cracking double CD from Lyon production team High Tone. Both CDs are split between the old skool dub sound’s low slung melodies and the more up to date dubstep feel with it’s harsh bass notes and synth lines a-plenty. Vocalists drift in and out of proceedings over the 16 tracks and the whole thing feels that it would translate well to the live front.

Opening track “Spank” is defo my highlight and they’ve put together a cracking video for it – have a gander below:

Engine Earz first popped up on our radar with the brilliant freebie “Faction 2″ and this amazing Dreadzone remix is sure to bring them to the attention of many.

Taking the original’s quality vocal work and sprinkling it over a doomy dubstep soundscape, it’s a brilliant rework with crystal clear production and an epic feel throughout.

Available August 1st with a Warrior One remix on the flip.

Glasgow’s Kid Adrift has been picking up a lot of well deserved press coverage of late with his unique brand of electronically driven rocky indie erm type shenanigans, think a slightly more emo NIN and you’re about half way there. His debut EP for Island appears on July 12th and tucked away at the end of the EP is this total gem – “Static” – a collaboration with mysterious Glasgow beatmeister Scharkz, it’s a big dirty dubstep number packed to the brim with bass, an epic string hook and catchy vocal snippets galore.

Also – drum n bass supremo High Contrast has directed the video for the EP’s lead track – “Oxytocin”, it’s a bit mental and a bit crackin, have a gander below:

Planet Mu unveil their latest signing and as always, it’s a new talent that stands head and shoulders above a majority of their peers. Oriol’s debut album “Night and Day” lands on the 19th of July, and couldn’t be better timed. It’s an album that’s got summer written all over it in big neon letters – from the opening strings of “Joy FM” right through to the fade out on “5 Bars”, it’s packed with uplifting melodies, 80′s soul tinges, and disco leanings. Constantly dodging pigeon holing, the album has nods to dubstep, house, funk, breaks and everything inbetween.

I’ve picked out a couple of my faves below but the whole thing is a top quality funk fest so get yourself along to your shop of choice on the 19th of July and pick up a copy.

New label Not Safe For Work launches with a top quality 12″ and digital download release from 501. The Finnish producer already has a few releases under his belt on labels like Heavy Artillery and MTA and this is his best yet.

There are four tracks spread over the digital download and it’s “Somewhere In Time” that’s my particular fave – brilliant spacey dubstep easy on the wobble and big on the atmospherics and bass.
