With just a couple of days to go we give you a run down on what to expect at what has become the best street music festival in Scotland, The Electric Frog.

Its hard to believe that this is the third Electric Frog this year and the previous events have delivered many quality artists from the field of electronic music. The September Weekender is no different with a DJ based Saturday that includes Frankie Knuckles, Joe Clausell and Levon Vincent just for starters. Oh did I mention Jeff Mills? Or Derrick May?

The Sunday concentrates with live acts with acts as diverse as local hero Konx-om-Pax, through Errors, Mogwai and The Fall before finishing with the mighty Orb.

We are also delighted to say that the organisers have taken the opportunity to celebrate 10 years of the Glasgow clubbing institution Melting Pot. Its been the home of the highest quality real house music since it began. Check out a set from resident Andrew Pirie below.

Two top quality Glasgow bands go head to head on this one. Errors take the growly goodness of The Twilight Sad’s epic opening track from last album “Forget The Night Ahead” and turn it into this nice, chilled electronica number. Despite the complete change of style – the brilliant vocals surprisingly work equally as well, quality stuff!

The Twilight Sad – Reflection Of The Television (Errors Remix)

Glasgow band Errors have always sounded to me like Mogwai on a happy day with more electronics thrown into the mix and these three tracks firm up that short n snappy description further. Their first album “It’s Not Something But It Is Like Whatever” was a cracking 40 odd minutes of instrumental electronica inspired post rock and new album “Come Down With Me” continues down that path, if it ain’t broke and all that.

From the melancholy head nodder “Bridge or Cloud?” through the positively uppy vibes of “A Rumour in Africa” and rounding off with the jangly goodness of “Beards” these will defo whet your appetite for the full albums release on the 1st of March on Mogwai’s Rock Action imprint.

They head out on a UK tour later this month and they carve some rather fantastic shapes live so I’d recommend getting yourself along.
