With two absolutely brilliant self-released albums under their belt and a handful of singles and EPs for labels such as Fence and Aufgeladen Und Bereit , FOUND are undoubtedly one of Scotland’s finest bands and a massive favourite of ours here at the Labs. So we’re really chuffed to be able to announce that they’ve just signed to legendary label Chemikal Underground and the spring of 2011 shall see the release of their long-awaited third album.

We’ll also be releasing some solo material from Kev Sim (one third of FOUND) on the new Phuturelabs label – more to come on that later.

So to celebrate I thought I’d pick out a few of my favourite tracks from ‘em – fire up the speakers and join me in the ever growing queue of people awaiting the new album.

While the blogs are going nuts over the Caribou remix of Silver Columns’ “Always On”, I thought it’d be nice to remind everyone of the brilliant remix from FOUND. As well as being one of the best bands in Scotland, they also turn in a mean remix. Taking a more downbeat route than the Caribou rework, it’s a love piece of melancholy electronica.

Well while Cliff’s been out getting his groove on to Modeselektor at NMBRS this weekend, I’ve been mainly doing nothing and am still recovering from the excesses of Easter Weekend. As it’s my turn for the roast, I’ve lined up this cracking bit of Roast Pork.

To ease us in and soothe the hangover is Actraiser’s chilled out dubstep track “Imaginarium” and it’s a cracker. Available for free download as part of the Echodub compilation “Echodub Loves Volume 02″.

Next up we have one of my favourite bands – Found, I caught them a coupla weeks ago at the Homegame festival and they finished with this, from last year’s Fidelities EP, it’s a cracker and with a new album due in the next few months, this will hopefully be a taste of things to come.

Marc Mac is one half of the legendary 4 Hero but he’s also well known for his breakbeat hardcore material as Manix. Reinforced have recently released “The Early Plates Vol 2″ which showcases more of his brilliant early material and this is one of my faves.

Fudge Fingas aka Gavin Sutherland who some of you may know as the keyboard player from the band Found is about to have his first release on the super hot London label Prime Numbers headed up by Trus’me. Due for release on all formats at the beginning of March we have a little taster to whet the appetite. With previous production work for Scottish label Firecracker with man of the moment Linkwood this EP has a nice diverse range of styles. “MmmHmm” has a real old house feel to the chords and fazed backdrop. Where as “Me & U” brings us the more disco roots of house and a nice warped vocal. Finally “Its About Time” has a lovely slow electro disco vibe to get the head nodding. A really great EP!!!!
