This was the 3rd release on LTJ Bukem’s legendary Good Looking imprint, it came out around early 1993 and to this day I can still remember the first time it graced my ears. In those days, tapes recorded at raves did the rounds at school (I was only 15!) and a recording of Randall at The Edge dropped into my hands (I ripped the tape years ago and MP3s are available here). The whole tape just totally blew me away and led to my now nearly 20 year long obsession with drum n bass.

It’s Bukem himself behind the controls on this one, it’s fairly simple but hugely effective – a lush wee amen roller built around a simple Juan Atkins loop. A written description doesn’t really do it any justice so sit back, press play and let the music do the talking.

Recently I’d been struggling to get a decent house mix recorded, basically I just couldn’t seem to peace things together as well as I had in previous recordings. Then, I decided to grow a beard last December and, now the beard is in full flow, I’m feeling that mixes are almost putting themselves together. It’s almost like the beards in control. Never one to fight such feelings, I gave the beard a wee trim this morning and set it off to record this mix.

It’s snack sized at just over 30 minutes and features some quality house, techy house, breaksy bits and a wee dash of old skool at the end. So get this on your MP3 player of choice and get yer boogie on.

This tune will mark the first release on the new Numbers label from the posse that brought you the massive Glasgow (and Tokyo) club of the same name. After running other labels such as Dress 2 Sweat and Wireblock. Head honchos Richard Chater and Jackmaster decided it was time to join forces and go for world domination. The honour of the first release has been given to Deadboy with this massive dance floor hit combining an accelerated high pitch vocal hook with old skool effects and 2 step beats. A monster! After “U Cheated” which we featured in November, this shows a further progression for the Deadboy sound. This is bound to be not only a massive year for Deadboy but also the new Numbers label who’s output in the coming months is sure to be bulging with high quality tunes.

The Fat Club gave away this brilliant Breakage remix of Massive Attack today so we thought we’d share the love.

Standing out as one of the best moments from the new album “Heligoland”, Breakage has done a rather fine job on the remix. It’s a bit dubsteppy it’s a bit housey it’s a bit good and when the 2 Bad Mice breakbeat drops about 4 minutes in, it just becomes amazing.
