With a regular month spot on Radio Magnetic for nearly 18 months, we have been trying to bring you some of the best electronic music to this excellent on demand service. Well now things get even more interesting as we are due to do a live slot on the Glasgow University radio station, Subcity.

Running since 1995, the station has provided not only the students but also the people of Glasgow with an interesting alternative to the standard music stations. We are delighted to be asked to do a guest spot and as well as the upfront tunes and questionable chat, you can also expect a couple of competitions.

We are on from 10pm till 12 on Friday 21st October and if you you want to get involved you can listen online here.

You may not know it but the 19th to the 23rd of September is Social Media Week all over the world. This year Glasgow is one of the host cities and we thought we should join in and put an event on.

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Radio Magnetic to provide an event that can be enjoyed by everyone, either present on the night or at a computer. The Magnetic Labs closing party will run from 9pm to 3am GMT on Friday 23rd, is free entry and will feature electronic acts streaming into the venue from all over the world alongside David Barbarossa, Phuturelabs DJ’s and the Radio Magnetic Soundsystem.

Thanks to KILTR and Stereo we will be using the Old Hairdressers in Renfield Lane to run the party from. Get along if you’re in Glasgow and if not, you’ll also be able to tune in online from anywhere in the world via our Livestream channel. Its all happening from 9pm UK time!

The venue is also the KILTR Hub for the whole week and well worth a visit. It’s sure to be a raucous evening and it’s free. Keep checking the Facebook event page for updates and more tunes and mixes from the artists.

The Hostage alter ego is back with glimpse of things to come. In between a busy touring and production schedule Alan Hostage is still finding the time to create top quality grey sound vibes from his Wire guise.

This time a slower pace with skipping snares and echoey vocals is on the menu, creating real depth and atmosphere. After his first release as the Phuturelabs first release, we hear there is far more to come and this free tune suggests good times ahead.

Towards the end of last year we brought the Phuturelabs label into the world with a launch party at the Ivy, alongside us Dj’ing we invited River of Slime and S-Type along to perform live sets. The kind folk at Radio Magnetic recorded the whole shebang and with River of Slime’s “Volume One” set for release at the end of the month we thought we’d bring you his live set to give you a wee glimpse into the world of the slime.

River of Slime is also known as Kev Sim and is one third of one of Scotland’s finest bands FOUND. He’s also known to knock out some top quality electronica in a solo stylee and this live set kept everyone at the Ivy on tenderhooks throughout. Jumping from catchy hooks and chunky beats to glitched out headwreckers, relive the experience below.

River of Slime live at Phuturelabs Label Launch

The “Volume One” remix pack is released on June 27th with remixes from S-Type, Paranoise and Scatabrainz alongside the mindbending 17 minute original. Support has already come in from Sinden, Om Unit and Eclair Fifi and the mighty XLR8R have also thrown their weight behind it and offered up the S-Type rework for free.

We’re back for a second season on Radio Magnetic with Experiment 13. After the euphoria of the birthday bash we’ve taken things down a notch with a more groove laced session with some tongue twisted selections.

As we’ve reached the first birthday of our monthly banterfest’s at Radio Magnetic we decided to spruce the show up a little. Edinburgh MC Profisee braved the snow and rain and came into the studio for a chat about his forthcoming Phuturelabs EP and we dug into the crates and played some of our all time favourites. With all this in the mix alongside exclusives from Jacques Greene and the Labs own label as well as upfront beats from Koreless, Rick Wilhite, Om Unit and They Live it’s a show worthy of the 1st anniversary.
