Edinburgh’s Profisee has a history of quality beats with the Scotland Yard Emcees, The Great Ezcape and guest vocal work for the likes of Neil Landstrumm and Hexstatic. He also delivered a brilliant EP in the shape of “Logan’s Run” for our Phuturelabs label.

2012 however is the year where he stands at the forefront and finally releases his debut solo album – “From All Angles”. A taster appeared at the end of last year in the shape of the Dam Mantle produced “Mind Over Matter”.

The next installment to appear is the Starkey produced “Hold Up”. Set for release on February 20th through Edinburgh label Abaga Records, the pack comes filled to the brim with remixes from local talent including Tactus and The Setup. The real gem however is the original and sees Prof’s brilliant vocal expertly placed inside Starkey’s dubstep tinged backing.

Profisee’s also been giving away some unreleased gems via his Soundcloud, the latest of which is the brilliant “Demons” from the unreleased “Scotland Yard LP”. Hop on over and scoop the rest up before they go.

Today’s snack sees me veer away from the sugary variety and get my chilli cracker on. Get some of these on the munch while you take in today’s tuneage.

Next up we’ve got a rather tasty remix of Profisee’s “Movin” courtesy of Morphamish. The original surfaced on his “Logan’s Run EP” on our label and this rework is now available for free download on Morphamish’s new EP through Black Lantern.

Edinburgh based Cut Music have been responsible for some rather great free EPs in the last year and the latest has arrived in the shape of Rain Dog’s “See Hear EP”. Lovely atmospheric garagey and downtempo beats are the order of the day here so check it out before and head over to the Cut site to download the whole thing for free.

The boys at the Thrust Club have just given away a rather chunky wee beast of a tune entitled “Pipelayer”. It’s a big ol’ slab of dayum funky breaks style beats that’s sure to brighten up your Saturday morning.

The Juan MacLean are set to release a new comp of b-sides, remixes and some new bits and bobs through DFA in November entitled “Everybody Get Close”. As a taster, XLR8R have kindly offered up the title track for free download

For our 4th release and our first outing in 2011, we’re very proud to welcome one of the UK’s finest MC’s and lyricists – Profisee.

From his work on One Little Indian with the Yard Emcees in 2003 through to recent work with likes of Hexstatic, Starkey and Neil Landstrumm, Profisee’s consistently flawless delivery backed with intelligent lyrics has brought him the respect of anyone lucky enough to have crossed his path.

His next release, the Logan’s Run EP, sees him team up with a collection of both experienced and new producers to deliver an EP that crosses genres and boundaries with ease and offers a taste of what to expect from his forthcoming album.

Phuturelabs’ own S-Type is the first producer to display their wares on “Logan’s Run [No Guts No Glory]” where spacey beats and synth work pound underneath Profisee’s “No Guts No Glory” refrain. Ninja Tune’s Poirier is next behind the desk and delivers “Movin”, packing Profisee’s hook laden vocal over an infectious head swingin’ bassline.

Amsterdam’s Process Rebel is the next to line up the beats and it’s “How It Goes” that forms the EP’s most dancefloor orientated track. Packed with a fuzzy synth hook and with a tonne weight of sub bass strapped to the underside, Prof’s vocal unfolds over a tribal backing before an insanely catchy loop attaches itself to the vocal hook.

The EP’s final two tracks see mysterious Glasgow producer Scharkz step into the fold. Following the theme of his work with Kid Adrift last year, the first track “This Means” is a decidedly dark chunk of dubstep tinged electronica with Profisee’s vocal taking a trip to Vienna and back. Closing track “Why Today’ adds a full stop to proceedings and sees Prof attack the topic of loss with heartfelt honesty.

It’s been a while since the last Phuturelabs label release but we’ve been far from lazy. We’ve been busy sorting out future releases and we’re proud to say the first release of 2011 from the label will be Profisee’s “Logan’s Run EP”.

Profisee is without doubt one of the UK’s finest mcs and lyricists and while Simba is a new name on me, he holds his own against Profisee and together they form quite a considerable force. They’ve kindly given away this ode to their favourite soft drink and it whets the appetite nicely for more collaborative material from the duo.

The original is a cracking slice of hip hop goodness and one of Scotland’s rising stars Unicorn Kid drops by for a remix. While his productions are usually pretty full on 8-bit monsters, he’s kept his calm with this rework and wrapped the duo’s vox around a light and space dubstep-esque backing.

The original mix of this collab between Edinburgh’s finest Profisee and California’s Eprom appeared towards the end of last year and it’s just turned up on Boomkat with this absolutely brilliant remix.

The original is a chunky dubstep number reminiscent of Skream’s “Midnight Request Line” and this remix flips proceedings and takes a brilliant, laid back hip hop approach, which I personally think suits Profisee’s phenomenal vocal to a T.

The EP also features “What It Seems” (original, instrument and remix from The Blessings) alongside these two versions and an instrumental of “Zoning”.
