We are going to hit up a classic breakfast/lunch treat this weekend with some french toast. Bread, eggs and maybe some maple syrup. Its the choice of (slightly sturdy) champions. Get your ears round this stack of tunes in between slices.

Starting things off nicely this week we’ve got the king of the shuffly snare Roska with a dancefloor destroying remix of the new Ben Westbeech single.

Packing in a tonne weight of sub bass, a driving synth line and a vocal hook that has “hands in the air” written all over it, it’s a bit of a monster. Free download courtesy of XLR8R.

Not a week can go by without Four Tet popping up with some amazing new tune or remix. This time he has remixed the Tinariwen tune “Tenere taqqim tossam”.

Last but not least we’ve got a couple of nice reworks of the new Ghostpoet single. Koreless recently turned in a brilliant remix of the London MC and this time it’s xxxy on the official tip (courtesy of XLR8R) and Error Operator on the unofficial. Grab both below and head forth into Saturday.

Hotflush have been on fire lately with releases from Joy Orbison, Sepalcure and more complimenting their recent “Back and 4th” compilation, highlighting the labels past, present and future.

Roska recently popped up on that comp and is now set to make his full debut for the label with two tracks in the shape of “Error Code” and “Abrupt”. The former is a lovely piece of tribal tinged housey goodness with spaced out synth work while the latter sees a catchy vocal snippet thrown into the mix alongside 808 hits and doomy pads.

UK funky don Roska and general grime overlord Untold go 50/50 on their new EP for Glasgow’s Numbers label. We have clips of both to start salivating over.

We’re in danger of becoming the Roska fan club of late but we couldn’t let this one go by without a mention. After Magnetic Man’s attack on the UK single charts, it seems Katy B’s “On A Mission” is expected to follow it this week – with Benga on production the quality is guaranteed but for us, it’s the man of the moment Roska who’s done the business here with this quality remix. Taking the vocal lead of the original and dipping it in a big bucket of shuffly funk and of course slipping in the Roska, Roska, Roska chant.

Katy B – On A Mission (Roska rmx)

Redlight’s been picking up a fair amount of hype of late with a coupla huge tunes and his next release – “What You Talking About?” on Chase & Status’s MTA imprint is sure to take things up another level. The original’s been getting…erm talked about a lot and just when you think things couldn’t get any better – Mr Roska steps in and ups the game once more! Set for release on August 30th and available at Boomkat.

Roska continues his tradition of top quality remixes and it’s Modeselektor that step into his sights this time. Taking the big hook of the original and uses it in a sparse manner throughout, he’s turned it into a nice bubbly roller in his unique Roska style. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

Originally released on an anonymous white label, it’s now available digitally at Boomkat as part of the 50 Weapons of Choice #2-9 Compilation also featuring remixes from SBTRKT, T++, Headhunter and Shackleton.

Modeselektor – Art + Cash (Roska rmx)

There’s also another “Art + Cash” remix forthcoming from the in-form Bok Bok.

Roska’s been impressing us with his future garagey type beats for a while and his brilliant remix of Four Tet’s “Love Cry” was a firm favourite here at the Labs. He’s now signed to Rinse and as a taster for his debut album on the label they’ll be releasing two 12″s – the first of which (simply titled Roska 1) has blown us away. The two vocal tracks (featuring Jamie George and Anesha) are impressive but it’s the instrumental “Time Stamp” that really grabbed our attention. It’s a funky wee stepper with a lovely old skool feel and a catchy hook that’ll worm it’s way into your memory within seconds of hearing.
