Hotflush are at it again with another high quality release and this time we have Sigha following up on a release on his own label Our Circular Sound last month.

For his Hotflush EP we have more ghostly techno that varies between the peak time acid chugger “A1″ to more expansive and deeper tones on “B2″. What’s even better is that thanks to XLR8R we have my favourite from the EP as a free track.

The XLR8R podcast series constantly delivers top quality mixes from the best dj’s and producers in the world of electronic music and who better to take on their 200th podcast than Mr Richie Hawtin AKA Plastikman.

The man himself explains the idea behind the mix:

One of the most common questions over the years has been what is the difference between Richie Hawtin and Plastikman. My most common answer is that Richie Hawtin is, or has become, the extrovert on stage, playing, performing, and partying with/for the audience, while Plastikman has remained connected to my more introverted side. A side that feels more comfortable locked away with my machine or hiding behind a curtain of technology, creating my own unique and personal take on electronic music.

For this podcast, I decided to experiment with the idea of how one of my personas would interpret the other: What would happen if Hawtin met Plastikman, or visa versa. So here, you will find a reinterpretation of a live Hawtin DJ set recorded at the Bermuda festival on November 6, 2010. Cut up, slowed down, shifted, and time-displaced to take the feel and experience of Hawtin into the realm of Plastikman.

Lastly we go on a more chilled tip with the ever consistent Oneohtrix Point Never. With two massive albums released in the last 18 months he is at the top of his game and this mix for FACT doesn’t disappoint.

It’s time for another Sunday tunage selection to help you ease off any hangovers or provide some much needed warmth while you’re hiding from the snow.

First up we’ve got a tune from our very own Kieran Basepair – it’s a lovely piece of downtempo beats with a trumpet line you’ll be humming for days and days after. This track is from an EP of his own material so I recommend grabbing the others.

Next up is some modern classical from composer Thomas Newman. It’s a piece from the “Little Children” soundtrack and manages to cram an amazing amount of tension within it’s short duration.

For the second release on our Phuturelabs digital label venture, we’re proud to introduce Hissy Fit from Montreal. An artist who has been around the Canadian scene for some time, he brings us the “Crosstrainers EP” featuring the garagey sound we love. The package features two tracks, “Crosstrainers” and “Outdoor Life”, both in their original versions and with two excellent re-edits by Hissy Fit himself.

The EP has gathered great support from Sinden, XLR8R, PBS Radio in Melbourne and Sonic Router. Watch out for future releases from Hissy Fit via his Soundcloud page.

A big thanks to Offshoot DESIGN for the artwork. They’ve been involved with the site for some time putting together the graphics. We are delighted they could spare the time to do a cover for us and couldn’t be happier with the results.

Thanks go to the excellent XLR8R online magazine for bringing us an exclusive free download of M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade – Donut (Gui Boratto Remix). This song first appeared on the 2007 5 Years of Get Physical compilation.

The techno aspect of the original is enhanced by Boratto’s use of glitchy, atmospheric keyboard work and metallic strings. It’s worth checking out the release on Beatport as further reworks from people such a Boy 8 Bit and Ben Hoo make it a must have. Also keep an eye out for the long awaited Booka Shade third album later this year.
