Brassica – Temple Fortune EP

My ears had been getting a bit worn out with 4/4 action of late so this Brassica EP for Civil Music was just what the doctor ordered.

Opener “Modern Magic” is a spacey funk extravaganza packed with fretless bass action while the melancholy vocals of “Lose Him” follow it up perfectly, “Milieux Metrix” meanders along next and proceedings take a breather before the crunchy breaks and synthline of “Lydden Circuit” bring things to a close.

Altogether it’s a supremely confident EP that showcases the talents of a young producer with a nod to the past and an eye on the future.

There’s also a couple of tidy remixes of the final track courtesy of Om Unit and Capracara but while they do their job nicely, it’s the original that does it for me.

You can grab this on 12″ and digital download now at Boomkat.
