Clay Wilson’s brilliant 12″ for Bangers & Ash was a firm favourite around these parts, leading us to check out his rather nifty show on RWD.FM whenever possible. He’d seemed to have been fairly quiet on the release front so this new 12″ for The Bunker New York was received with open arms.
While the Bangers & Ash release featured some beat free material, the three tracks included here all come pre-loaded with hefty kick drums and perfectly placed percussion.
Opener “E4″ is a beautiful piece of work, pairing ethereal atmospherics with an airy techno lean while “Oizumi” that follows takes a slightly tougher approach without losing any of the depth explored in the first track. Proceedings come to a close with “Socorro” and there’s a healthy dub techno thing going on here.
It’s a phenomenal EP that only seems to scratch the surface of Wilson’s talent and with any luck we’ll hear much more from the Brooklyn producer this year.
Released on the 24th of Feb with pre-order available now at Juno.
