It’s all about Brooklyn today with both label and producer being based in that fine part of the world. Admittedly I’m a bit late to the party when it comes to Honeywax Records and Destronauts so I’ve got a bit of catching up to do.
This EP stood high above the average in an inbox that constantly gets flooded and it’s an EP I kept going back to again and again.
The three tracks contained within all sit roughly within a techno framework but without being constrained by it. “Sentient Beings” kicks us off with its murky atmospherics and a kick n hat backing that never forces itself to the forefront.
The absolutely brilliant title track follows with its short n snappy acid line, pitched down vocal hook and mechanical percussion before proceedings come to a close with the airy dubbier sound of “Exit Strategy”
It’s a hugely impressive outing and there’s also an instrumental of the original included for those with that inclanation (myself included).
Released on June 11th and available at Juno.
You can further get yourself acquainted with the Destronauts sound by checking this podcast that’s packed end to end with quality techno and house.
