Gonzales takes on Boys Noize and Erol Alkan…
I first came across Gonzales when a work colleague passed me his amazing “Solo Piano” album from 2004. I was immediately taken by it’s ethereal piano work. So when I came across his remix of the Boyz Noise & Erol Alkan electro anthem “Waves” I was a little surprised to say the least.
What you get for your buck is a lovely piano piece that gently saunters until about a minute in where we switch up a gear and some subtle percussion is added to the mix before working its way to the exit where soft choir like vocals float over proceedings.
This was released as a limited 10″ and on the flip you get a short interview type piece with Gonzales where he explains how he approached the remix and could be good sample fodder….Hitler Juice indeed.
I’ve also included audio of the original for contrast.
