While Edinburgh producer Hostage has become the go-to guy for rave fuelled house, techno and dubstep outings with release after release certified peak time friendly, he’s taken the foot off the gas slightly for this, his debut EP for Hervé’s Deep Thrills imprint.

The EP kicks off with “Tunnels” and there’s the odd hint at rave carnage with the LFO on the bassline having just an inkling of wobble an a bit of reese bass pops its head into sight later too.

Everything’s kept under control though and it’s a classy slice of moody house.

“Creep” and “House It Up” follow and continue in the same vein and provide perfect early evening or early morning fare with the usual Hostage polish. The real treat for me though came in final track “Fade To Black” with it’s amen chops and stabby sub bass notes.

Released on the 11th of June.
