Jamie Grind – Footwork EP
Glasgow’s Fortified Audio are currently preparing their 2011 assault and first up is Jamie Grind with the “Footwork EP”.
The title track opens the EP with vocal snippets chopped and layered over a light percussive backing, short snappy synth loops and a serious amount of sub bass. Hackman pops in next to throw his hat into the ring on “Saw The Light” with it’s chipmunk vox and wobbly bass interludes before “Without You” lands next and proves the stand out track of the EP for me.
Utilising anthemic pads, light vocals and a shuffly garage break to brilliant effect, it’s the kind of track that makes sense at 1PM and 1AM. “Now You Know” closes the EP and appears in a moody puff of smoke with melancholy synth work and a main hook that whistles it’s way into your memory.
Available digitally in early January exclusively at Boomkat with vinyl to follow later in the month. The cracking artwork is also worth a mention and is the work of Drew Millward.
