Legendary producer Nightmares on Wax is set to celebrate 25 years in the music world shortly and to mark the occasion a special retrospective of his material is set to land through Warp on the 16th of June entitled “N.O.W. Is The Time”.

The producer’s output has influenced almost everyone in the world of electronic music and to pay tribute, many of its finest have offered up remixes of his work that appear on a special limited edition second CD of the album that also includes some tidy rarities. There’s some phenomenal work in there – from Special Request’s absolutely amazing rework of “Aftermath” through to JD Twitch’s take on “Dextrous” and beyond.

Twitch had this to say about “Dextrous”:

“I clearly remember going into FOPP in Glasgow in 1989 and the girl behind the counter excitedly handing me a 12″ in a distinctive purple sleeve on some new label from Sheffield called Warp. The record was “Dextrous” by Nightmares On Wax and it sounded like the future. I played it 4 times over the course of the night at my weekly gig in Edinburgh that weekend which was something I would never normally do and every time the cheers got louder and louder. I still play it to this day. If someone back then had told me that one day I’d end up remixing it my brain would have probably exploded on the spot.”

To give us a further flavour of the forthcoming retrospective, Twitch has also put together the rather tidy minimix above.

There’s also a mini-documentary that looks back over the career of Nightmares on Wax and you can stream Ashley Beedle’s classy take on “Now Is The Time” via the Nightmares on Wax Soundcloud.
