Lazy Sundays : Lamb – Back To Mine
In the dark and distant days when CDs were still being bought in large numbers, electronic music had an ocean of mix CDs and compilations to choose from. A series that took a far more interesting view of the market was Back To Mine.
Published by the DMC group there are 28 albums to choose from, staring in 1999 with Nick Warren and finishing in 2008 with Krafty Kuts. Many of these compilations were regular visitors to the stereo and helped introduce me to previously unknown music.
I could have chosen many of the series but in the spirit of Lazy Sundays I plumped for number 18 from Lamb. Its a heady collection of leftfield, afro and lounge beats with plenty of electronic interest. I particularly like the selection from a vocal perspective with everyone a standout. A bit like Lamb really.
