Playless – Closer EP

Alex Ferrer AKA Playless

New label time here at the Labs and we’ve got a bit of a treat today from Highlights Records. Their first outing sees Alex Ferrer don his Playless guise for the “Closer EP”, a four-track EP of top drawer house with a nostalgic lean.

Lead track “Changes” is the pick of a rather tidy bunch and leads the way with an earworm of a piano line (reminiscent of Paul Woolford’s “Untitled”), diva style vocal hooks, crispy clean percussion and hefty amount of sub bass providing the bottom end.

The other three tracks take a slightly more subtle approach with a healthy blend of vocal snippets, catchy synth shenanigans and kick and hat combos that show the producer’s love of classic house and garage.

Check out the rest of the EP below and you can pick this up from the 14th of February.

Ferrer has also offered up a rework of Ce Ce Peniston’s classic “Finally” for free download so get your fingers a-clickin below.
