Stormfield – Collapsing System EP

London’s Combat Recordings certainly have an eye for a quality remixer and the host of reworks of their recent release from Anodyne were a firm favourite here.

For their latest outing however, label boss Stormfield take the reins and it’s all about the original tracks here.

There are three new tunes in the package and each one comes dripping in acid with the title track taking an eerie ambient approach while “Rebuild” nudges up the BPMs and delivers a monstrous ten minute 303 workout before “Sea Ice” calms proceedings a little and almost acts as a bridge between the other two.

There’s a crunchy analogue feel to the tracks and they should find favour with those who like their techno with an extra sprinkling of dirt.

Remixes come from the likes of Defekt and Errorbeauty but while they add another slant, they lack the overall punch of the originals.
